My professional training as a psychotherapist took place at the Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy Education in London, where I completed a five-year postgraduate Diploma and a two-year research Master’s degree in Transpersonal Counselling and Psychotherapy.
I have worked in various mental health organisations and charities and have been in private practice for over 10 years. While I work with a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties, my experience as a Professor of Immunology and Pharmacology offers me a unique perspective on the connection between physical health and emotional states. I have a particular interest in supporting those living with chronic conditions, helping them to find meaning and resilience.
I am genuinely committed to helping people achieve the best in every area of their lives. A meaningful life is truly a life fully lived, and I enjoy helping people to explore their true sense of meaning and purpose.
I am also deeply fascinated by the connection between mind and body. I teach and conduct research in immunology and have a particular interest in immune-related conditions with a psychological “component”, such as endometriosis, infertility, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus and Crohn’s disease.
These two apparently divergent training paths come together in my current field of research, called Affective Immunology (www.affectiveimmunology.com), where I explore the relationship between emotional states, immune resilience and wellbeing.
